Default Kepler Fast Enough To Replace 3x GTX 580s

Epic Games has reportedly run its "Samaritan" Unreal Engine 3 graphics demonstration on a single NVIDIA Kepler card. The same tech demonstration last year required three of NVIDIA's high-end GTX580 cards to run at equivalent speed, showcasing the power of the company's latest graphics hardware.
Kepler technology was also utilized to power Unreal Engine 4, though details surrounding the private demonstration have been hushed under non-disclosure agreements.

"That board we ran the Samaritan demo on is the same board we're running the Unreal Engine 4 demos on," Epic Games VP Mark Rein told Vox Games, according to quotes posted in a The Verge report. "We can get so more out of that card than what you saw in Samaritan."

Leaked roadmaps suggest NVIDIA may be preparing to release a number of Kepler-based cards next month, including the GTX680 and GTX660. The range-topping GTX690 is not expected to arrive until May, alongside a $999 price tag.

I still do not believe the $999 price, that has to be wrong, not many people will pay that kind of money for a video card.

if a single card is powerful as three gtx580 then people with Tri-SLI 580 would buy it.

I'll go with a couple of GTX 680's, but there's no way in hell I'm spending $1000 per card on the 690's

I would like to see the single card that can outperform 3 x 580's.

If it could it would be a bargain at $1000, but I don't put much faith in that. Hype and more hype is all we got till they drop.

    Yep,

Waiting for Kepler but (NOT) going to pay 650 bucks for a vid card.

Was hoping the 680 was going up against the 7970 as to price, But if thats the case a 100 bucks higher and
    outa my range.

As to the 660 they claim on par with a 580 and then claim 10% faster than a 7970.
The 7970 clearly better card than a 580, So don't know how that computes and only 1.75 gigs of Mem.

Keep thinking on the Ram shortage as to AMD 3gigs there is something they know, We don't.
Just wondering if thier counting on the 3.0 spec to make use of the extra bandwidth.
But even then only running 1.75 and 2 gigs on the cards under the 690.

But to fully utilize it would have to have a new 3.0 platform including the chip.
And not everyone can afford to upgrade the whole system, There for, hurting sales, as a niche market.

Oh Well, All speculation till hard release.

    Simply put,

You can play that game with your card, Just not at the highest settings.

You have a good card and think would work fine at acceptable fps.
Speed cost money, How fast do you want to go.

Be wary of what you read sometimes fellas. Based on all past history that is public knowledge, since when has Nvidia ever launched a card that was 300% faster than the previous one? Answer: NEVER.

Sorry I can't say much more guys, but I can say that PureOC will definitely be in the know. And when the time comes, you will be as well.

Soft launch was suppose to be today but not a peep yet.

    Hope its worth the wait.
Am hoping the Nvidia mid range cards would out pace the 7X cards at the same price range but
leaks are not looking to good.

$649.00+ Price range for a card thats just slightly faster than the 7970 not my cup of tea.
Should know by the end of the week.
