In the past have seen certain people other than Forums, Recognized hardware evaluators, Ect, Get thier hands on new releases
and wouldn't be suprized to see a few within a week.

Be nice having a Good friend in the NV camp right now.
Just hope thier Driver developement team has been putting in the extra hours.

I wasn't trying to be catty about it. I wasn't happy with the hype that was generated about Bulldozer prior to it's release. AMD had to know what it would do performance wise, but they didn't do Jack Sheeit to temper our expectations.
Bulldozer really isn't a bad performing platform, but it never lived up to the hype generated before it's release. People were expecting some real competition for Sandy Bridge i7's and that was a bust.
AMD should have handled the situation better. It didn't surprise me when they fired so many of their marketing team either.

Hence,.....Swan Dive off of a tall bridge

Let's examine something for a sec, shall we fellas?

I was in San Fran last week at Nvidia's Editor's Day. During lunch break of that VERY DAY, "leaks" of GTX 680 start showing up "from unnamed sources" on various tech sites. Unconfirmed slides start surfacing an hour later. Coincidence? I think not. Other sites may choose to disregard the embargo, but suffice it to say I was at Nvidia's Editor's Day, in person, and got to see EVERYTHING up close and personal.

Is it reasonable to assume that a GTX 680 was discussed at the conference? Is it reasonable to assume several cards were on display? That live demos were happening? That slides were shown? That comparison results were presented? That details were discussed?

I'm under NDA so I can't say anything because I will honor the NDA that I signed. But I'm sure you guys can connect the dots

Yep,......I had already assumed most of that.
I think that the fact that you're honoring that NDA says a lot about you.
The fact that others are not honoring the NDA that ~they~ signed says a lot about them.

Even though I'm not planning to buy a new video card right away, I'm just as excited to see what will be offered.
I look forward to the end of the NDA.

    'Kepler' Micro-architecture-review of GTX680

The long awaited new generation "Kepler" finally comes in the form of GeForce GTX 680. With the new structure, new processes, it wins over rival Radeon HD7xxxx more than just performance. The often criticized high temperature and high power problem has been solved. The performance advantage is one-sided, bringing no disappointment to waiting users.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 is even more interesting with the GPU Boost technology. Other new features include: Adaptive VSync and NVIDIA 3D Vision Surround function.

The Radeon HD 7000 series is facing enormous pressure with the expected price of U.S. $ 549 of the GeForce GTX 680. A new generation of high-end graphics card price war is imminent It is expected that AMD will respond quickly and the Radeon HD 7900 will cut price by more than HK$200 reduction of the series to compete with NVIDIA.

Bus Interface on GPU-Z says PCI-E 2.0.... Shouldn't it be 3.0 with the ASUS R4E?

You have to be running the right chip, Ivy Bridge will take care of that

I wonder how much more of a performance boost it will give once the PCIe 3.0 is active with the right chip, with more lanes open I would assume there would be some nice gains. Can't wait till they release so theres more information on these cards.

Existing Radeon 7 series cards are 3.0 compliant. Does anybody have them up and running at 3.0 speeds yet? I noticed that some of the new Intel boards are offering x16 3.0 slots but if you add a second card in another x16 slot, they both default to 2.0 speed.

I guess that some things are easier said than done.

The CPU will make more of a performance difference in framerates than the PCI-E 3.0. Bandwidth does not equate to framerates. CPU speed, however, can.
