Default Is Gainward out of business?

I've tried contacting them numerous times over the last few weeks about a dead card and they have made zero response

Are they out of business or simply ignoring customers with defective products?

If they are it's news to me. As far as i know they've made record profits with there new cards, and they are owned by pallete, one of the biggest players in video cards.

I'll let someone from Gainward know that you've had trouble contacting then about a dead card and forward your email address along to them.

Just out of interest, what card was it that died?

Hi, i am new to this forum but would like to say hello first of all.

i had also been thinking this, i have sent them 3 mails over the last month and a half to no avail.

I too had purchased this gainward card, and am having some nasty artifacts displaying.

here is a short 10mb vid showing the artifacts at work
    http://www.zen102465.zen.co.uk/MadMo...17-42.XviD.avi

    I have tryed :-
    selection of different drivers,
    turning AGP fast write on/off,
removing items from the PCI bus,
bolting a 32cm desk fan to the side of the case to add extra cooling across the video card.
reinstalling the games in which are artifacting.
    reinstalling DirectX 9.0c
    switching to agp 4x

ive yet to try an OS reinstall, as that not something i really want to be doing right now

    specs are...
    3.2ghz P4 HT FSB800, 2Gb DDR400, 7800 GS 512Mb

    mobo, ram, cpu > www.delphium2.f2s.com/cpuz.htm

    gfx > http://www.gainward.net/products/pro...products_id=29

    psu > http://www.akasa.co.uk/akasa_english/spec_...p650ff_bkv2.htm

    raid > http://www.xfxforce.com/web/product/listCo...urationId=20305

    avrage case temp 26c
    avrage cpu temp 35c
    avrage gfx temp 45-50c

I have a total of 11fans (and yea you guessed it, it sounds like a jet aircraft, just a shame it dont perform like one)
    1x psu fan
    1x cpu fan
    4x case fans
    4x HDD fans
    1x gfx fan

If anyone is able to shed light on this issue before i go crazy then i would be most appreciative.
If more info is required then please advise.
I thnak ye all in advance.

hi there, does this problem occur in other games? Can you take a screen shot from a real game with the problem too just so i can see?

If it's all games and you get this problems then it's def faulty. You'll want to RMA either with the place you bought it from or Gainward. And yes, you are right, Gainwards tech support is quite poor, apparently.

    Hi all,
I do not know why you all seem to be having a problem with getting replies from Gainward.I emailed their Tech Support a couple of days ago in Germany and got a reply the next day.

hi, james thanks for your reply...
i have no other pics to hand at this moment, i shall post later...

this does happen in other games, its not all games

games so far that it does artifact like the video clip i posted would be :-

    zero hour
    call of duty 1
    battle for middle earth 1 & 2
    swat 4
    BF1942
    ground control 2
    pacific fighters
oblivion (but only the NPC's artifact, building grass etc is all ok, only people are effected)
war craft 3 (but much less than the others... playable at least)

games that have run ok would be :-

    star craft brood wars
    unreal tournament classic, 2003, 2004
    Vietcong
    and surprisingly enough F.E.A.R.

    thanks for your help

ps, ill try gainward germany, instead of there UK alias (hope they speak good english as my german is poor)

I think i said in another thread that their UK person has left to head up EVGA in the UK, and so they don't have any UK person anymore, it's moved to Europe.

Gainward might as well be out of business, as far as their support goes. Emails I send using their online form are ignored, Gainward's website simply instructs customers to contact their resellers if they have card questions or problems, and contact nVidia if they need drivers. At least from the outside it appears they've completely washed their hands of direct end-user support.

I've heard they're working on a bios update for the 7800GS+ (for fan control, according to the rumor). How am I supposed to receive this update? Or can I receive it without having to send the card back?

The lack of communication is absolutely infuriating.

I've go to agree with FrankD, especially since I think I need a new BIOS (my fan control is non-existent). Where the hell am I supposed to get it?

Reseller is useless so far too.
Potential customers: If I'd known about the support problem I would NOT have bought one of these cards.
