Only a few memebrs have he 7970 so you won't get a lot of feedback but the 7970's are great. Iroc and myself have them. Surely the 7850 will be sweet. So far no driver issues and the cards are excellent. I will say he 7850 commands a nice price.

Jim, I'm not sure about the drivers, right before I sold my 7950s I started getting the same old message that the display driver had stopped working, I've never had this happen with a card from Nvidia, but it's happened one to many times with 4 totally different systems running cards from AMD, and I am NOT the only person this happens to, so don't even think about it lol

Nvidia has always had and always will have the best drivers.

I tend to agree with you Stan but it seemed like the price was right and it had 2gb of memory.

I have an XFX 7970 Black Edition. It's an awesome card and I haven't had any issues with drivers. My only complaint is I don't have two.

The 7850 you linked looks like a very nice card and the price is right. Plus, you get two free games with it. You could buy one card now and save up for a second one down the road. Overclock them both in crossfire and they would be very fast. Two fast cards for less the $500 is a pretty good deal. JMO.

I had the same problems with Display Drivers quit working when running my 5770CF and 12.1 thru 12.4 drivers.

Since getting the 7970 and using the certified 12.4s, Seems to be gone.

I will settle this. I have been running the 7970 with absolutely no problems for almost a month. Stan, the card was brand new when you got it. Nvidea runs through these issues at times.The 7XXX cards are pretty good to say the least.

I finally made up my mind and went with these, for the price they have alot of Cuda Cores and good feedback. 124.99 after MIR

We understand that your a AMD GPU Fanboy but this problem has been around for years, cand if you go through past posts, Duff also had the same problem.

Just wondering also if it was an AMD (CF) driver problem.
Pretty irratating, And would even happen at idle, Desktop or just surfing the web.

Don't remember that happening when first got the first 5770 by itself.

As to the 470's, Strong cards, But 1 Gig of Memory just like my 5770's were.
Remember you don't total Memory, Its mirrored.

And some of these apps and games are taking alot more than that.

I know alot of people who switch from Green to Red or back even go to the trouble to Reformat
to make sure there are no conflicts.

Okay, But alot of work and time.
But good time to start fresh on other problems.

I've always gone thru the Registry with a fine tooth comb to (Clean Out) And get it all if
changing brands or even driver versions.
