    Just to report back that the problem came back again and after googling around, it is due a low GPU issue with nvidia's 6 series cards running in SLI mode, usually when the frame rates drop the GPU usage drops to something like 50% usage. However when the problem doesnt occur the cards are running at about 93-95% and pumps out approx 140+fps. Strange enough this problem is rarely reported on Triple SLI setup but very common in 2 card SLI setups.

    Must be a bully problem, your 680s are telling you that you need 690s lol
