I am sure that they will have update after update for the drivers. I love the price!!! The only con I have with AMD GPU's is that they are slow to release new drivers after the products have launched.

Yeah you are. Lol. I'm glad they did change the way they do drivers. It has made a huge difference in performance. Fixes for new games. Game profiles are updated as needed. It can be downloaded separately. From the time I got these 7950s to now I would say there has been a 15-20% increase in overall performance. 3dmark scores are way higher. Crossfire runs a lot better too.

The 7990 is a monster and I would love to have one. After the last few driver updates they are even better. If I had the cash I would buy one.

Have read rumors but have found no conformation that the DP rate on the 290x is half of the 7970. Still searching

Never look back. Something might be gaining on you.

me personally i feel if you dont plan to watercool the R9 290X why buy the reference version? wait for the non reference version which will have better air coolers. Reference coolers always ran hotter and louder in my opinion.

Because some folks want the illusion that they can afford such expensive hardware!

Have a couple of 290s coming in for review, I'll let you know how they do in Crossfire. Hey Steve, what happened with the 280X I got you for review, that review should have gone live more than a week ago.

Please add in the water cooling cost and the fact that really to make use of these you will want two. These cards are definitely going to cost you much more than the initial $549 each.
I wish I could build pcs each and every single day for the rest of my life. PC FTW !

You are basing that off the ref model. If you are plan on buying a ref model then yes I would water cool it. If you buy a non ref cooling solution like you will see from every vendor then the temps and noise levels will be different.

I dont under stand why you need two of them to make use of it? It can beat a Titan in almost every test but you have to have two of these but didn't need two Titans?

If you are talking about that article where they were testing the 290x and Titan at 4k res with absolute highest settings then you would need two. You also needed two Titans. Or you can do like a normal person, Turn down the AA as they suggest in the article to continue playing with everything else maxed out at 4k with one 290x or one titan.

You only need one unless you are trying to do as they did in that test that even the writers said wasn't realistic expectations.
