I like the APU price cuts since those make a LOT of sense right now. I still feel like the 5 GHz FX chip is a bit too expensive for what it offers and the platform it must operate on though. For 300 bucks I could get myself into an i7 chip with a motherboard that has native support for PCI-E 3.0 (this now matters for AMD CrossFire), uses less energy and has better IPC than the 9590. If THAT chip were closer to something like 250 bucks, THEN we'd be cooking with gas. that chip would make a killer alternative to those who would have at one point considered an i5 for their next system and still represents a strong performance value for the dollar. 300 bucks puts it too close to i7 territory, and an i7 it ain't (this coming from an AMD Red Team member... I LOVE these chips, but in most cases a stock i7 will match or beat them).

I think that I read somewhere that AMD plans to release some newer, faster APUs. A redesign, I think.

This may be worth waiting for. I like supporting AMD and the APUs are dlivering a lot of performance for your money spent.

You are quite correct, sir. Starting either at the end of this month or next month AMD is supposedly getting ready to ship out review samples and system integrator stock of their new Kaveri APU, with consumer availability slated for Jan. 14, 2013. These new APU's are set to pack a ton of extremely important new features that will introduce heterogeneous computing to home desktop users, among other things. Of particular interest is the new GPU, which on paper looks to be the same damn thing as a Radeon 7750.

Well I have enough PC power here to keep me going until I can check the reviews on them, once they are available. I've had two APUs so far, and they were good performers for the money. They used less power too. Win/win situation.

Might take a few days after the Announcement. Just keep an eye on it. Once it hits $300 I think they will sell out fast.
