According to the artical they are saying its going to run off the motherboard only no power supply needed

NVIDIA AIB partners will be free to create their own versions of both of these cards.
Expect to see more information as we get closer to the February 18th launch date.

I like the direction the lower end GPU's are going lately. They've become far more relevant than they used to be, especially with the promise of excellent scaling with Dual Graphics on the new Kaveri APU's with an R7 250. Excited to see how low power consumption is on this and what kind of heat it produces, hopefully it will be a good indicator of how the new Maxwell core scales as more compute units are enabled.

Nice, powering only from the PCIE (less cables, better cable management, cleaner build).

All of the yes. I am actually considering eventually getting a card like this for the HTPC to run in Dual Graphics mode myself for exactly that reason. Might even be kind of cool to get a universal GPU cooling block and throw that on one and run it with a low TDP chip to cool the both of them off of a single 45mm thick rad in a self-contained loop based on a Swiftech Apogee Drive block.

Yes, yes, also think this would be great (to WC both card), and this Apogee block is small and effective, I'm positive would be enough one 45mm rad for both cards.

I don't like it. Its not big enough to surf waves on. Doesn't weaken the neighborhood power grid. Doesn't cost 4 times more then it should. Can't generate enough heat to cool a bedroom. If it doesn't support 4k porn then all is lost! Haha

Seriously this is a backwards evolution in GPU power. Lol wonder why they started at the Very top then work backwards like this. It seems to be obsolete at release time. Pricing will be so important its crazy. There are so many low cost options by AMD its nuts. Those aren't inflated either. Hell there are a lot of options from NVidia too. Isn't maxwell based on the mobile platform too? As in the GPU from laptops?

I agree. Its an odd move to do this at the current time. It looks like it could be a good card, but its a dangerous move. They will be hard pressed to market this card well due to the lateness. Low-Mid range are usually the best selling cards overall. Why limit yourself in that market? They will have to have an amazingly low price to get this out on the market and making a dent in the AMD lineup.
