    Default GTX 770 motherboard compatibility

So in the process of figuring out what is causing my gaming rig not to boot I tried putting some parts in my parent's older PC.
It's an old DDR2 Asus board with an Athlon x64 3200 dual core, I put my PSU and GTX 770 in there to see if it would work, it boots up and runs fine for about 5 minutes then it freezes everytime, since my broken PC won't even post and this one does I'm assuming the problem isn't with my 770, but to make sure would the freezing just be a problem since it's a higher end card put in an older low end motherboard?

That GTX-770 is backwards compatable with the older system's PCI-E 2.0 interface,....but the freezing up isn't a good thing.
Could be a number of things causing the lock on the older PC, including the older PSU.

Oh I put my newer PSU in it as well I forgot to mention that, could the freezing also point to the issue being the PSU itself?
