    Default AMD's R9 295x2 details

The guys over at BueweenPC have some details on AMD’s upcoming Dual GPU Hawaii graphics card. According to their story AMD was showing a reference model of the card behind closed doors at CeBIT. Only a few people really got a chance to see it.

The first details that we know are that the card will be called the Radeon R9 295X2, not the Radeon R9 290X2 as we first thought. AMD has pushed out a few 2×5 entry level cards so the naming here makes sense. Also you have to remember the GeForce GTX 295, which was a dual-GPU card as well.

The official slides that were shown to BueweenPC say that the card will be clocked at 1 GHz. This makes us wonder if the card is even a fully-fledged Hawaii-based card or not.

The AMD R9 295X2 will come with a hybrid cooling solution. The cooler in question would be equipped with a 120 mm radiator / fan much like ASUS ARES II (shown below). Two AMD partners have confirmed that the sample shown at CeBIT was a reference model.

The card is expected to compete directly against NVIDIA’s dual GPU GeForce GTX 790. We should expect both of these cards to launch very soon. AIB partners were briefed on the cards this week so expect non-reference models to popup as well.

Two Hawaii chips attached to an Antec 920? Is this a membership drive for a school for the hearing impaired?

Put a couple of G1/4 fittings on there. Don't drag down an Enthusiast oriented card by hanging a CLC off it, makes it look cheesey and gimmicky.

Dont worry about the pic below. That the Ares II. That was already released last year. 2 x7970s Since they had no real pic or idea what the card will actually look like they posted pics of the last known Dual AMD GPU.

If we know anything about the 290 and 290x GPUs, it will be that there is no way in hell a 120mm AIO could cool two of these gpus. I dont it could cool one for that matter. I have a 290 in a custom loop with a 320mm rad, fans on high and it still hits 52c! A 120mm with 2 Gpus under it was boil the fluid out the aio!

They need to do something like you said, A hybrid cooling solution with fittings for custom Water.

My mistake....I totally forgot about the Ares II's existence.

Yeah, I don't want to think about a pair of 290X GPUs on a 120mm AiO....but some idiot will do it on YouTube and claim that they never get over 40 degrees and the fans are dead quiet. He won't mention that the GPUs never break 400MHz at any time, though.....that AiO mindset.....

You are soooo right!! I cant wait to see it. The worse part is some tard will see that video and go try it for himself and end up with a toasted GPU!

BUT, he will never admit to the toasted GPU. Instead he will ramble about his GPU never going higher than ambient temps since he did the mod.

In theory would something like the new Swiftech, be able to handle this, as it LOOKS like it might be more toward a hybrid as you put it, seeing as it is expandable?
