Thread: 7950 crossfire with ocz zt 650w psu

    Default 7950 crossfire with ocz zt 650w psu

    can i crossfire with my psu
    at the moment its pulling around 350w-380w with just 1 gpu but over clocked to 1200mhz-1500mhz from 925mhz-1250mhz
    i do not mine if i have to lower the oc
    or should i just get a 750w psu

    You'll need to get that 750W PSU, 2x7950 in cross requires minimum 700W PSU:

    I personally think that the 650w is too low to run on a daily basis. Adding the 2nd 7950 would put you pretty close or over the continuous power spec. a 750-800w will give you a bit of a cushion.     Go up in wattage and consider a different PSU

    I would consider an 850W for a little headroom. A 750W may work, but it will working its tail off when the GPUs are under load. The price difference is nominal.

    You have an overclocked FX cpu. I'd even look towards going to a 1000w just to make sure you have enough headroom.

    I recommend no less than an 850 watt psu. This will give you plenty of head room and room to add more components like water cooling. I think Seasonic make the best psus. I have an 850 watt Seasonic psu and it's awesome.
