Good price, but I think two GTX 980 (with more and less same price), will easily beat R9 295x2.

Surprisingly it does not beat the 295x2 by much. only a few FPS but at a higher total power draw and higher heat output. This is at 4K so lower res may be different.

lol yeah that is yet another newegg typo.

I also noticed the drop in price for a 295x2. I would rather get this deal than 2 980s in sli. Newegg had the 285x2 for $999 the other day with a bunch of free games and a $50 gift card.

somw where i saw a mwntion of DX12 on the nvidia
    the r9X2 is showing DX11
will the r9's have a chance to run 12, or is that a hardware restriction?

AMD Announced in March DX12 will be supported by these cards.

Prices have adjusted a lot in the short time after the 980 & 970 came out. I'll wait for a while for the dust to settle before I buy any more GPUs. Prices are still going to adjust.

Just picked up a Sapphire R9 280 at microcenter for $159.....actually I grabbed 2. Went shopping for a WorkStation. i7-4790k was on sale for $279. The only part that sucked was memory. Damn prices have sky rocketed on DDR3. $169 for a 16GB kit. My last 16GB kit was $129 for 2133. Figured DDR4 being released would start pushing down DDR3 prices. Wrong!! Will post pic of the workstation being built just for the fun of it.
