No worries on cooling. The vapor-X can handle it with no problem. Should be more concerned with who can actually take advantage of the 8GB frame buffer. Running 4K on a single screen with not go past 4GB even with the highest settings. You would need 2-3 4K monitors to come close to needing 8GB but I will guess it wont pass 6Gb usage.

Well there's already review sites that are starting to spit out coverage of how well these cards do with higher resolutions. Linus is working on a 1440P triple monitor surround video, and Tom's Hardware already has a review out of the Sapphire model: Sapphire Vapor-X R9 290X 8GB Review Verdict

I read some reviews on these and there is practically no difference between it and the 4 gb variants.......until you get to some of the latest gen console/pc games. Shadow of Mordor showed some nice gains with the 8 gb version compared to the 4gb version, especially at 4k. Sure, it's a niche market but if you plan on owning a lot of these new generation games coming out and already have the 4k monitor, well, money grows on trees for you and you can afford it!

I see it barely doing better. A few FPS better in some benches. In a 3 monitor setup at 4k. Single monitor users will get nothing from using this GPU as i stated.

Here's the review I found with Shadow of Mordor. At 4k, it can even beat out the mighty GTX 980 in performance.
