    Default Post R9 Fury Release Nvidia Price Drops

    So, a week or so ago it was mentioned that NVidia pricing might be dropping as a result of the R9 Fury. At the time I resolved to set up some PCPartPicker Price Alerts to see what happened.

    I set two filters, both limited to 4GB cards and the brands Asus, MSI, Gigabyte and EVGA (as these are the Graphics Cards brands I tend to look at) for two GPU models:

    Geforce GTX 980

    Geforce GTX 970

    I didn't bother with the 980ti as it's sort of in a league all it's own and doesn't seem to be pressured by the Furies.

    With all that said, I've seen a few temporary drops lower, but the 980 is sitting stable at somewhat less than $500 for about 6 models and less than $510 for another 2 or three models. These prices include models that are overclocked and representative of all 4 brands. The low price is $475 for a MSI @ 1.15 GHz.

    For the 970's, I haven't seen all that much movement, but today I got an alert that shows a Gigabyte model @ $298.99 after Newegg price fiddling ($301 shipped).

    There are 4 cards < $ 320, one from each of the filtered brands, and a total of 12 Less than $330 including at least one EVGA FTW model clocked at 1.22Ghz.

    Just a data point.

    Yeah, Stellar seems a bit of a weak adjective....perhaps ExtraGalactic would work better! That was a fine fine deal!

    <sigh>
