Diamond support SUCKS. I put in the ticket last Wednesday and the ticket hasn't even been looked at. But the ticket with AMD has been more successful. I haven't tried this out yet, but wanted to post what they suggested. I'll report back when I've tried it out.

Regarding reinstalling the software for the ATI card:
Please try this thorough uninstall process below.

    * Remove all ATI software from add/remove programs individually. Restart.
    * Now run the ATI Uninstall Utility. Restart
    * Go to registry and remove any ATI entries left under
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software
    * Check for any ATI entries under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Uninstall and look at each GUIDs display name for ATI entries remove the GUID if found.
    * Check for any ATI entries under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products look at each GUID and the InstallProperties key, look at the Display Name for any ATI entry, if found remove the whole GUID.
    * Exit Registry editor.
    * Now browse to C:\Windows\INF and remove any OEM#.inf and the corresponding OEM#.pnf files that reference ATI. You look only in the OEM#.inf file.
    * Next remove the C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia Center folder and C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies folders if present...Restart
    * do a search and delete anything realted to ATI. Try this - ati*.* in the search field.
    * Install new software in the order that is listed on the ATI website

    WT#$@#?
Why go all this trouble to uninstall driver?
just use driver sweeper software to save all the hassle.

So far I didn't notice any problem from 8.12 to 9.1 and I couldn't tell if there any different either.
I used ATI uninstall utility to uninstall the driver, I only use driver sweeping from Nvidia to ATI. Make sure you reboot Windows first before you install the new driver.

This method didn't work for me either. I've tried driver sweeper. I've swapped the cards in the slots, tested both individually, installed every driver going back to 8.6, and every driver gives me the same result. No ability to enable crossfire. I've tried new crossfire bridges, tested video on the second slot only. This response from ATI tech support was the latest attempt. I'm ready to throw in the towel. I still have my old DFI x38 board I'm going to try them on to see if it's the maximus II somehow giving me issues. Going to pick up a case today so I have something to mount it in. And yes, I reboot after every move I make.

@slngsht; what's your problem, the driver or can't get the crossfire to work?

yep, I've ran two instances of GPU-Z in game just to make sure crossfire was enabled and not showing up in CCC, and sure enough, the 2nd one wasn't seeing any action.

here's some screenes of what I've been seeing.

in the last pic, you see the first card is overclocked (i have the windows out of order) but I backed it down to stock and ran it with the same result. It also indicates that the cards aren't clocking at the same speed.

I don't think the mobo problem though, it's must be the GPU.
Make sure you have it install properly, it look like the CCC didn't recognize the second card or it will show the crossfire option for you to enable this feature.

I didn't have the problem with mine, it recognized right away as dual GPUs.
Why don't you try one card at the time in slot #1 to make sure both cards are working properly, then install the second card without the CF bridge, to see if the CCC pickup the second card. If it does then install the CF bridge.

Let us know if you have any luck.

I've tested both cards in slot 1, and they both work just fine. Others have told me that "Disabled Adapter" is normal, and that crossfire should enable anyways.

These are both cards I won from Diamond, so I'm 100% sure they are both refurbished cards. Free cards aren't free. lol

hummm....I can't tell you much at this point in time because I'm at work. I will check my CCC screen later on if there's any different than your or not?

Like I expected, the card is causing the problem, not the mobo or CCC 9.1 though.

That's my thoughts too. Everything should be working, and it makes no sense. I think i'm going to throw in the towel and sell one, then upgrade to a single XFX 4870 1gb and call it a day.

Ok, so I checked my CCC, if everything work properly then you supposed to have the Crossfire setting feature right under the ATI Overdrive memu.

Yep, one of the card or cards have faulty for crossfire. Well you can really complain much when you got them for free.

oh trust me, I can complain. I usually don't complain about freebies, but it's been a real nightmare dealing with Diamond. I'll spare you the details since it's so crazy what I've gone through with these cards. But if you are interested, you can check the thread I had at the forums that I won the cards from: http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=457118

It seems 9.1 does not like Call of Duty:World at War if you have a 4870. Getting other crashes in 3D apps as well.

Went back to 8.12 and all is well in the world again.

    Definitely passing on these 9.1's.....

To update: I ended up giving up and sold one of 4850's and ordered an XFX 4870 1gb. And I think I'll go back to 8.12's as well.
