Default Fermi's complex design caused the delay

“We redesigned GF100 from the ground up to deliver the best performance on DX11. This meant adding dedicated h/w engines in our GPU to accelerate key features like tessellation.

We also made changes on the compute side that specifically benefit gamers like interactive ray-tracing and faster physics performance through things like support for concurrent kernels.

Unfortunately all of these changes took longer than we originally anticipated and that’s why we are delayed.

Do we wish we had GF100 today? Yes. However based on all the changes we made will GF100 be the best gaming GPU ever built. Absolutely.”

    That goes without saying, Nvidia

You may have your GTX480s before I get my 5870 ....

Its being held up at the UPS brokerage department. I think they are trying to stick a brokerage fee on it. I never had a problem like this before, and I buy stuff from Canada all the time. I drop the value on card saying it was used and going to used for parts.. I googled and learn they could charge upwards of $100 fee according to value.

Looks like I wont see me card for another week or two.

Doing my taxes tonight so that I'll hopefully be able to get them back by the 26th of March, the date that the GTX480 is supposed to be released (according to Fudzilla). After that my build will have very little else until I have all of the hardware I am needing. Then I get to start focusing on the fun stuff.

newegg will end up getting some in, I'm sure. As long as they don't send out fakes, I'll be ok, LOL.

That's true. I'd hate to receive a package from newegg only to find out its a loaf of bread with GTX480 stamped on it. ha haha

My 5870 has been sitting in a UPS warehouse in DETROIT, MI for 4 days now...I can just imagined my package by itself on a circular conveyor belt being scanned every few hours as it just keeps going in circles.

    It's torture, I tell you!
