Default NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 Final Specs & Pricing Revealed

We have received the final specs for GeForce GTX 480 and 470 which are slated for official launch on March 26th 7pm US time. Coincidentally, an official photo of the GTX 480 has been leaked in our forums here : http://forums.vr-zone.com/news-around-the-web/586418-finally-official-picture-geforce-gtx-480-a.html

    GeForce GTX 480 : 512 SP, 384-bit, 295W TDP, US$499

    GeForce GTX 470 : 448 SP, 320-bit, 225W TDP, US$349

Internal benchmarks reveal that GeForce GTX 470 is some 5-10% faster than Radeon HD 5850 and similiar for GeForce GTX 480 over the Radeon HD 5870. Interestingly, the TDP of GeForce GTX 480 is almost similar to Radeon HD 5970 which is a dual GPU card. Interestingly, our sources revealed that there are indeed plans for dual Fermi cards and the TDP of the card is probably gonna be mind blowing.

I love competition as much as the next person but I'm disappointed. Who is gonna notice a 5-10% improvement? Can you tell the difference between 50 and 55fps? If you can, you are Superman. Further, almost 300W TDP that's equivalent to a 5970? Are you KIDDING me?!

"Best" or "better" doesn't just mean a visually unnoticeable improvement in framerates. It also means lower power consumption, lower temperatures, less noise, and so forth.

ZOMGZ0RZ!!! It's 5 fps faster!! It MUST be worth the money, I don't care how much it costs, how big it is, how power hungry it is, or how hot it runs, I simply must have it or my life just will not be complete!!!!

    [/sarcasm]

    UGH.

Yea 5-10% over a seven month old card (5870) is a fail to me and i dont see beating the 5970 any time soon not to mention the 4gb higher clock edition. And soon there will be 2gb oc 5870 so we can forget the 5-10% either.Hey i am sure it will be a damn good card but i would expect a monster card from Nvidia to compete with the 5970.I guess they better work on the dual fermi cards and they better do it fast.

    Fanboys will be fanboys.

These will sell, and people are going to pay a 30% price premium for 5-10% increased performance. Stupid, but true.

I am not a fanboy, as I personally prefer ATI's offerings over NVIDIA's. But, with Adobe embracing CUDA, I really don't see that I have much of a choice. I'm thinking that I might end up getting the GTX 470's instead of the 480's though, I guess it just depends on what the benchmarks show. Or should I say, what Frosty's (a.k.a. Skyguy) recommendation is going to be after we get to review them.

I hope these prices are real. If so I should be able to use my EVGA bucks and get a GTX 470. Just last month it was posted that MSRP would be $499 for the GTX 470, and $699 for the GTX 480.
