    lol i applaud you for the dammit comment, made me laugh.

    Each day the situation with AMD becomes all the more worrying, but we have to remember that layoff's don't always coincide with financial trouble.

    Don't forget that Intel announced 10500 job cuts recently. It's just the nature of big business, especially when you have share holders to keep happy, profit before anything, etc.

    Economy of scale is one of the biggest reasons for mergers. Combine the revenue generating capacity and cut the administrative overhead.

    Seeing workers turfed from accounting shouldn't come as a big shock. Once AMD was finished merging the financial systems, they didn't need two separate accounting departments or the combined resources of one mega accounting team.
