AMD's FireStream has returned. Presumably built around the 55nm RV670 processor, the new FireStream 9170 is said to feature "up to 500 GFLOPS of compute power", 2GB of GDDR3 memory, consume "less than 150 watts", and cost around $1999 USD. When the HD 3870 X2 hits the street, AMD should manage to break the 1TFLOPS barrier. In the meantime though, AMD will release a FireStream SDK allowing developers to "create and optimize applications on AMD Stream processors".
