Nvidia's Tri-SLI has formerly been rumored to only work on the GeForce 8800 GTX and 8800 Ultra due to the dual-lane SLI bridge required. However, according to Jen-Hsun Huang, chief executive of Nvidia, the setup will also work on the more affordable 8800 GT - which only has one connector. This suggests that, in theory, Tri-SLI should work on lower end parts like the 8600 series (which also share one connector) - although this is unconfirmed.
