Very well explained Josh, so well that now I, as a faithful Intel Fan for decades, am hesitating between Intel and AMD.

    Always look beyond the limits...

Default Re: AMD Ryzen 2nd Gen CPUs Ready for Pre-Order – Why You Should and Why You Shouldn’t

Had thought about doing a Ryzen build earlier and may do one before too long anyway.
Since I didn't do one earlier I woudn't be in for both, older and newer versions of the chip like I was for AM3+ between those two chip arcs.

Only reason I didn't do a build based on it this time was the current build was dirt-cheap, as in less than $225 US to get going and that was with the cost of the RAM included. Between the CPU I won from the HWbot Country Cup last year (7700K), a board I picked up cheap on fleabay that had some pin damage I was able to fix I really came out ahead with this build.
Biggest expense was the RAM itself and didn't get what many if not most would have, it's a starter set and that's about it for me.

I'm still considering a build based on Ryzen and may do that before too long, you never know about me and what I'll do next because I don't know myself most of the time.

If wanting a new build and coming up from something that's older then it's well worth looking into.
If you already have a Ryzen based build it's really a matter of how much you'd want the new chip in your system whether it's worth it or not, at least ATM it's been quasi-confirmed speeds with the newer chips are better and the chip's IMC should be able to handle even higher RAM speeds too.
