17.5% on imports?
I think I pay 30%-40% for importing, the last order I got from US was $86 and I paid close to $40 imports tax but the product sale price must cheaper though.

Never really thought about how it works, Often things slip through with no tax paid (just a lump of cash for the post) If it gets stopped by customs then I end up paying an extra premium to the carrier not sure how it would work if set up properly.
The real shame is that companies like EVGA don't ship direct.
I'll make a few calls this week

none of you know the pain of hardware in brazil. First off, i saw an 8800 GT for about £400 there ein a shop. Forget even seeing top of the line hardware there AT ALL, it just doesn't even make it there. ANd import tax is over 50%, so i can't even get stuff off friends in the US and have it posted to me.
Brazil is just plain behind in technology, and its going to kill me![]()

I don't really know...the imports tax is based on the value of the product. UPS always call me up and ask how I'm going to pay it, thru my broker or they will take care it and I will pay them back.
Matter of fact I'm waiting an order from PerformancePCS at the moment, it should be here any time now. The whole order cost me around $100ish, included shipping and I asked UPS how much is the imports duty cost?... they said around $40ish.
I will check the invoice and let you know.
Kaganader, it must be nice. Even the E-retailer located in your own resident state?
We have to pay the local sale tax if you live in the same province of the retailer. No matter online or not. But we don't have to pay this tax if we order from a different province retailer.

I used to order from newegg but now I have to pay taxes due to them having a warehouse at new jersey. so now ive been trying to order my stuff from zipzoomfly or tigerdirect.
I wonder if I could buy something then send it to Jameson without paying tax, just the shipping.
