Benchmark's cpu cooler review is a worthy read and the summary shows how tight the margins are becoming at the top.

I'm using a xigmatek 1283 with a yate loon sh12 and I can confirm it IS VERY close in performance to the TRUE (my other heatsink)

Definitely. The Thermaltake V14 Pro (with its 140mm fan) and the Noctua NH-U12P are two of my other faves and offer excellent balance between performance and noise reduction.

I must agree,....where my selections loose out a little is only that I purchased in the first quarter this year.

Right now these new designs are still nibbling away at the top performer title. Truthfully, purchase any of the top 5 even top 10 and most builders should be happy with the result
