Default Intel cuts Core i7 950 price in half!

If you recently bought an Intel Core i7 950 processor and shelled out the full ~$600 asking price prepare to regret not paying more attention to this post last month -- or getting the faster i7 960 for the same amount which should have been your choice in the first place. It turns out the chatter was true and now the high-end chip is selling for 48% less at $294. The move essentially renders both the Core i7 920 and 930 obsolete as well, since those chips are selling for roughly the same.

    Damn! Great price!

Intel was ripping people off with that price on the 950. It is the same chip as the 920/930 with a 23 multi. This is why I stayed away from Intel in the past. It just pi$$es me off. I am so glad AMD seems to be getting close and I sure hope they do to keep the pricing down. Some of those prices are so rediculous and have been on the higher chips. Normal idiots like me cannot afford that 980....

OK I am off my rant... back to the cartoon porn!

More than likely their making room for the new LGA1366 990X but you have to admit $294 is sweet deal for a 950

I have the exact same sentiments of what I think of Intel, but then again I hope it stays that way so I won't have to worry about burning a hole in wallet to get a top notch AMD chip

Just hope they are not just their binned chips - run around stock but nothing much more.

Asus did that years back with their 800 series GPU, & as AMD is currently doing with their binned 6 core CPUs
    Regards, Doug

Microcenter has the i7 950 for $199. They may or may not be binned but usually they are somewhat "binned". The 950 features a 23 x multi over the 21 for the 930 Doug. This has been done for a long time with both manufacturers.
