Default Pre-order prices of Intel Haswell-E processors

Intel is readying next generation Core i7 extreme microprocessors, that will be formally introduced this fall. The new line of CPUs, based on Haswell-E core, will include the first ever 8-core desktop microprocessor from Intel. The Core i7s will also feature a number of microarchitecture enhancements, support for DDR4 memory, and they will available with a new chipset. All in all, the company will launch three SKUs, namely six-core Core i7-5820K and i7-5930K, and eight-core i7-5960X. All three processors are already available for pre-order in US:

Which one? The entry level 6 core or the Monster 8 core?

personally I can see myself investing in the 6 core. Cant go any higher than that. $1100 for a CPU is just plain insanity

I am waiting for MC to have the chips on pre order. Ill be ordering the 5820K for my test bench. Can't not have a chip for reviews.
I am also considering maybe investing a little more and get the 5930K, but not sure if the extra $200 will be worth it right now.

The 5820 does sound awesome but I doubt I would notice any real world difference with that chip even with owning a FX-8350. Still, with the heat spreaders soldered on this time, the overclocking potential should be pretty good.

that small increase in speed isnt worth that $200 to me. That $200 could be spent on some bad ass DDR4 memory!

Yea, that's what I am thinking also.. plus I am going to overclock anyways so it may not... I am hoping that we have the DDR4 memory covered.

Six core, for sure. That eight core chip is just too damn expensive, and for what I would want to use the system for frankly it's not needed.

8 core monster... I want it, I need it. and..... I'll have it. (not just for OC, benchmarks, but for my work too), probably with the end of year bonus + what I'll get selling my actual config (CPU + Board + RAM).

    Always look beyond the limits...

Well from my perspective I'll word it like this: I can "want" in one hand and poo in the other, and I can bet you I know which one fills up faster x-)

I still have a 980X and 3960 X sitting in the motherboards in my closet
