    Default WRT54G overclocking

Has anyone here played around with modifying this router? It sounds like the HW rev that will work best is version 1.1. Anyone with experience playing around with this?

It looks like an option for us (both financially, and able to modify)
Our goals are to have the ability to:
choose our own dns server for non-computer devices (not cable companies)
    increase range

Most of the info I've found on comes from

    http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php...d_Overclocking
    and
    http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php...s_WRT54GS_v1.1

does anyone know about how to make a jtag cable mentioned?
    http://www.bitsum.com/openwiking/owbase/ow.asp?WRT54G

Trying to get all of our ducks in a row, before we begin.

    Thanks

Like you have done already --read up on wiki and there,s quite a bit of info on there.
Got a v.5 and a v.7. Only the v.5 is ok to flash.v.7 is a nono.I think its only v.7 as its got a different chip thats a duffer, all the others appear to be ok-- read, read and read again as if i remember rightly there are a few pits you can fall into on this as you seem to be aware hence the call for help on this site.
There is a good post on the Techpowerup site--titled "unlocking the power of the wrt54gl (and a few other routers" well worth reading) http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=13484
overclock.net have one which i read "how do I install Linux on my WRT54G/GS/GL worth a toodle over to read up.
Worth also reading up on Tomato (firmware) again on wiki as I think a lot of guys rate this fimware highly also.

The jtag cable i saw on I think it was the Ebay USA site--can,t be 100% sure on that one but it was an Ebay site, if not try UK,Then maybe the Dutch or German site.
For your info --I only printed off this info last month but didn,t go any further with it for fear of bricking the unit-- have seen since on the "Bay" WRT54G,s already converted to DD-WRT READY TO GO.
put this to bed for now but i would like to run with it in the forseeable future
Hope this helps --a little !!
