    Default using the same broadbad connection

    Hi, I have a new computer the wife wants to use my old pc and use my broadband connection I have a modem for my broadband connection how can we use the same modem to connect to the internet the modem only has one usb connection to my pc

    you've got two options:

    1) get a router. This option would allow anyone to connect to your broadband connection at any time, regardless of which pc is switched on.

    2) setup a shared connection (control panel, network setup wizzard). You'll need a network connection between the 2 PC's and the modem connected to the PC thats used the most. THe only downside is that the primary PC will have to be switched on to feed the other PC the broadband connection.

    If you do a search for "shared internet connection", no doubt you'll find some walk through guides to fill in the details, as my post is not really explaining everything there is to this.

    i suggest option 1, its the easiest in my opinion.

    also if you wanted to you could get a wireless router so you don't have to use the hard wires
