Default AT&T Starts Six-Strikes Anti-Piracy Plan Next Month, Will Block Websites

A set of leaked internal AT&T training documents obtained by TorrentFreak reveal that the Internet provider will start sending out anti-piracy warning notices to its subscribers on November 28. Customers whose accounts are repeatedly flagged for alleged copyright infringements will have their access to frequently visited websites blocked, until they complete an online copyright course. It’s expected that most other participating ISPs will start their versions of the anti-piracy plan on the same date.

Angry Re: AT&T Starts Six-Strikes Anti-Piracy Plan Next Month, Will Block Websites

So now ISP has its meaning extended to Internet Serivice Police

It's already a very hazy & fine line between corporations & government.
This activity goes way over the line!

So now corporations can become enforcement agencies of a country's laws?
And carry out the administration of "sentences"?
What legislation allows this monitoring, deciding of guilt & enforcement?

What about the constitutional & charter rights of citizens to face their accusers & the right to a defence against any alleged violation of any laws?

What about situations in many jurisdictions, where individuals are not vicariously liable for actions by another ie underage children etc?

In what god forsaken jurisdiction can corporate policy supercede law & the rights of its citizens????

Article quote: "Thus far the participating Internet providers have refused to comment to the press on any of the details including the launch date."

Being the Sneaky little bast@rds & underhanded cowards they are....
    Regards, Doug

It could be that the government is forcing them to do this, something like you better cooperate and keep our name out of it, or else.

D_D: With all due love & respect - I strongly disagree -it's the other way around --The RIAA (RIAJ) lobbying the govt's to force these measures

In addition to my post #2 below & reading the 2 links AT&T Starts Six-Strikes Anti-Piracy Plan Next Month, Will Block Websites | TorrentFreak & Anti-Downloading Law Hits Japan, Up To 2 Years in Prison From Today | TorrentFreak

Note where enforcing this is so difficult & requires spyware
    Shades of Sony's Rootkit malware??
MPAA, RIAA & RIAJ = Sony & its affiliate corps' bitches

Read the history of Sony & Blue ray disc development when it hired Linn corp to develop BR - if it had its complete wishes
we would have to register online every BD we owned, before viewing it & it would play only on the BD player it was paired to.
That is in place on every BD player ever made - BUT the flags on the BR discs are not yet enabled.

Sony is a VERY draconian & extremly suppressive organization!!!

    This is outrageous!....

So, my ISP provider is monitoring my WWW use?.........**** all over my rights to privacy.....
    Don't they need a court order....what's next...phone taps?

Excuse me for being slow....but if I copy a P2P file that someone had paid for and uploaded...isn't it the same as if I borrowed the disc from a friend and copied it ??...that friend has the right to do that, and as long as it's not being sold for profit.....how is it any different?..........

Yes, there are pirated stuff on these torrents, but again.....how do they know I'm copying that stuff, unless they are spying on "WHAT" I'm downloading.....

Sorry to bust your privacy illusion, but ALL (as in every single) piece of electronic traffic from i-net to landlines to facs to cell phones
even extends to in-game consol chatting & messaging, has been monitored & tracked for many years & no warrants needed.

Re: "Excuse me for being slow....but if I copy a P2P file that someone had paid for and uploaded...isn't it the same as if I borrowed the disc from a friend and copied it ??..."

Not according to these facists - you are gulity - as the articles indicate this idiocy even extends to those innocently viewing an infringing youtube video

They wont put you in jail they'll just cut your services XD Maybe someone else put it there but you downloaded it and are therefore breaking the law just as much as that person... I know several people that got arrested for downloading music on limewire, the "I'm not the one who posted it" argument didn't work for them. The fact is that it's easier to find the person downloading the file because they have it on their computer while the person who uploaded in may be long gone.

The way I look at it is I don't download music or movies for that matter that I didn't pay for, unless of course that music or movie was free to download.

Goggle this (free downloads music movies)

Sucks to be you guys. I don't really pirate, but when I do it's private servers or newsgroups.
