Im currently at 15mbps Upload sucks donkey ass. Anything Satellite related is terrible is so many ways. Expensive, slow, line of sight issues, upload on some services use phone line or dsl. You would be better off with what you have now.

Bonus! better than before and you get the benefit of knowing you are smarter than the idiot on the phone! Make sure you take screen shots proving your speed. With the date clearly displayed.

HAHA GUESS WHAT GUYS! after a little over a month my internet dropped to 1.8mbps, so AGAIN i called them got the same bull*** story i never had higher my line cant support it blah blah blah, Welp as of about 5 min ago i dropped to .8mbps, i am so done with verizon, im calling TWC after the holidays and seeing if there is any way possible they can run there lines another 1/2 mile so id be able to hook up to it, if not im ready to pay what ever overage charges i have too and ill hook up to a 4g hotspot, i speed test on my phone and get anywhere from 20-30 mbps constant on that.

I remember those days when I had att dsl service. If it even looked like it might rain in there near future I would lose service. Drove me nuts.. Had to dump them and go with Wide Open West. Best move I made service was rock solid and price was damn good. I miss my WOW service.. Twc sucks ass. Internet drops cable freezes all the time and Bill is high and no matter when or how much I pay them they are constantly calling asking for money. It's insane and annoying as hell. I hate Twc with a passion. Can't wait to move so I can get my wow back.

i was looking on there website and liked there deals, idt comcast has taken over twc yet have they? TWC and verizon are the only two "wired" internets in my area and im sure TWC is 10000x better then verizon ever can be.... Problem being like i said TWC stops service about 1/2 mile if not less from my house. not really sure who i would need to talk to too see if its possible for them to run there line a little longer

4G, that is exactly what I did. I dropped my internet connections and started tethering with my phone. Get way better speeds and consistent. Can do all the same stuff except quicker and less pocket damage. I'd recommend the same as you're thinking. I used PdaNet, cell company never has caught on. Going on four years of happy, quality internet.

Yea iv used PDA net before, problem is I'm on Verizon and only allowed 2gigs, then its $15 per gig after that and with some downloads being 20+ and on top of Netflix I could see myself racking up $500-$600 bills every month

Ah, sorry to hear that. My plan is unlimited everything for 50 bucks. Not too familiar with Verizon plans. That sucks though. Hope you get it ironed out or find a better solution. Hang in there.

You must be grandfathered in? Around here there is no true unlimited plan, most places either cap you at 2gb or throttle you down to 2g speed, unless of course you pay serious money for more, I think Verizon is about $120 a month for either 20 or 50 gb, either way a TWC rep came into my work and I talked with him, he told me ifni could write a letter and have ~20 people or so on my road sign it, its a good possibility I can get them to run a cable down my street

Do you know how far you are from the "Local Office"? That and the cable condition are going to govern the max rate you'll see. 1.5mbps peak is not unusual, especially as you get further away from the Local Office. That you've had higher indicates to me that the actual lines are in crap condition and you are suffering interference or signal degredation on your lines. The fact that you drop out in bad weather is rather indicative of this. Short of getting Verizon to figure out where the lines are bad (unlikely at best), the only way to fix this is to wait for good weather....boosting the gain on the line (which is basically what the Tech suggested), probably won't help...

So...the nearest TWC comes is about 1000 ft? Does your property run up to or near that point? Do you know the property owners where the nearest cable connection comes? If so, you _could_ pay to have cable installed @ that property, and then use a Wireless Bridge to get it to your home. Not cheap, but I reckon that would be a lot cheaper than getting TWC to run a line for one customer.....A good wireless bridge could easily hit a mile or two, and the right bridge would be largely unaffected by rain & wind if installed correctly.

I'm with a cell company known as MetroPCS (owned by T Mobile). I haven't noticed any downfalls. I download movies, play games, uninterrupted through out the month with no extra charges. But it sounds like 20 people would be easy enough to get and you'll be in good shape. I hope they will run and extend it. They should cut you a discount I feel for improper service but we all know how that goes. Hopefully you can knock that out and they can live up to their end. Good luck!

I don't know a lot of the people on my road, a lot of people out this way are older, 60+ they like the quiet I guess haha, pretty much of I crossed about 50 feet of woods at the back of my property I'd be where they service, I have not heard anything from TWC yet

I also did not know but my Xbox shows data usage, I'm usually ~30gb a month and some months I see 100+ highest so far was 127gb so honestly a 4g hotspot is far out of the question lol, on my 4th straight day now trying to download gta5 it's only 47gb my friend on Comcast had it done in about an hour
