    Default Msi gt70 onc-494us

Just arrived, but I must leave for work shortly. I will be adding a ssd to this one with Win 7 installed when I have the time. Will update with pic's the progress and performance as I go. Now...need to figure out what to use to remove the glue residue from the tacky decals I just peeled off.

Update: Several days in and here is my opinion for what it is worth...by far the worst product I have ever purchased.

Out of the box performance with Win 8 is pitiful...my netbook outperforms this piece of junk. I can't believe how slow this laptop is. Can't run benchmarks without glitching all over the place...if they will open at all. Win 8 video driver is not recognized by Futuremark and there are no alternatives available.

SSD install was a wonderful experience...took forever to get it recognized in the bios. The bios...what a joke. After two different installs of Win 7 on the ssd half of the components still do not function correctly. Utility/driver disc is worthless for Win 7 and nothing MSI offers on site is helpful. There are no compatible video drivers for the 670MX available.

Short story, this will probably go on ebay and I'll mark this one down as a complete failure.

I would have thought so too, but it is the most sickening thing I have messed with in a long time.

I actually had a similar start experience with this laptop and i never did get windows 7 installed satisfactorily, however I did do a clean install of windows 8 and used one of the free start button programs and things started to work better.

a couple of tips for folks who buy this laptop.

before you wipe it and start over with a new os, first uninstill the mouse pad software "Synaptics Touchpad" they tried to make it windows 8 friendly but it just plain sucks.

you also need need a 2 video drivers one for intel and the other for nvidia. all drivers are on this page though some of them are not current they do work
    MSI Global ? Notebook & Tablet - GT70 0NC
the download from nvida for the latest drivers is here
Drivers | GeForcehere were a few other things as well if i remember i will post them up.

sense i did a fresh windows 8 install this laptop is totally awesome.
