Default Deleted the Upper and Lower Filters and now getting a BSOD

for some reason my drive was no longer reading any type of disk, poked around and was reading something off of Microsoft and suggested deleting the upper and lower filters, i did that and when i restarted i am getting a BSOD, only thing i can really do now is get to a command prompt from the boot up auto repair feature, is there a way i can get those filters back on there so that i no longer get to BSOD and get to the desktop? i don't have any restore points saved so rolling back is not an option, and i am away from home on vacation so i can't just wipe it and do a re install,

the Lappy is a Toshiba Sat i3, if you need the model type and what not i can post it tomorrow.

have you tried disconnecting the Drive before you boot into windows? This may give you the chance to delete all of the drivers and registry files related to that drive so you can start over. The other method is to boot into the repair console using a Windows disc of your exact running versions. Example You have Windows 7 sp1 and a Windows 7 disc. It will not work. Windows 7 32 vs 64bit will not work. Its a pain but you can do it. There are plenty of examples on how to do with using the repair console. You will need to locate those files on the Windows disk so you can manually enter the command lines

There should be a partition on your drive with the OEM version of Windows on it for restoring the system. Some also have the ability to repair your installation without losing your current data.

Good to hear that. If it is only reading certain disc then it is a laser problem. There are 2 different lasers in these drives, blue ray has 3. Some they can be fixed or cleaned as Vinny is trying to do.

it is not reading any disk, it spins up and acts like it is going to read it and then says there is no disk in the drive, but coming up as a DVD drive it is only coming up as a CD drive, and i will bring it over Vinny when i get home, and for me it is COLD! it is in the low 40s at night and my Father In Law does not believe in turning on the heat! the days are nice so far, in the low 60s which i can tolerate but still cold for me =P

Got you. Misunderstood. So the whole laser assemble is either dirty or the slide mech is jacked up. 40 is cold? 60 is bearable? better stay out that way buddy because you would die out here. We already had frost on the ground last week. We hit 0 and subzero all the time.
