Any ideas how the new AMD 7990 video card will perform mining litecoins?

Why spend $1000 on a 7990 just to use mining litecoins ? I'm working on getting 7990 samples in for review, but with a $1000 price tag, they most likely will be loaners, but at least we will have the reviews.

5870s I think are the best GPUs for mining, can't quite remember off the top of my head right now but it was something like that

Hi Dave, to soon to tell, some of the companies I contacted received small amounts of samples, which went to the larger sites, but they told be we are on the list for the next batch of samples that come in. One problem here is that Jake does not have a GTX690 for comparison [ the Nvidia offering for a $1000 dual chip card ] I have two of them, so I might have to either let Jake borrow one to do the reviews, or do them myself. I also have the GTX680 and HD7970s to add in for performance results.

The 7990's will be as useless for mining as the 6990's, simply due to the power requirements and initial cost. You can buy 3 7950s for the price of 1 7990. My 2 cents.

I own two EVGA GTX690s which are powered by the PC Power & Cooling Silercer Mk III 1200W PSU, also had a X79 system I built for Sapphire that had three 7950 OC GPUs, being powered my the new TT Tough Power 1475W PSU, and the performance did not even come close to the 690s.
