    Default i7 950 4.2MHz P6X58D Kingston HyperX 6GB 2000MHz

    Hi All,
I have just put a new computer together in order to specifically overclock, and after reading and researching on the forums, I have managed to get my i7 950 to 4.2MHz and is running stable. However, I am unable to achieve 2000MHz on my memory. It is currently running at 1603MHz. Because I am new to overclocking, I have hit a brick wall and would really appreciate any help in solving this problem. Can anybody shed any light on this issue for me?
    My specs are as follows:

    Ai Overclock Tuner X.M.P.
    CPU Ratio 21
    Intel SpeedStep Disabled
    Extreme Phase Full Power Auto
    BCLK 200
    PCIE 100
    DRAM 1603MHz
    UCLK 3208MHz
    DRAM Timing 9-10-9-27
    CPU Voltage 1.35
    CPU PLL Voltage 1.9
    QPI/DRAM 1.35
    IOH Voltage Auto
    IOH PCIE Voltage Auto
    ICH Voltage Auto
    ICH PCIE Voltage Auto
    DRAM Bus Voltage 1.65
    Load Line Calibration Enabled
    CPU Differential Auto
    CPU Clock Skew Auto
    CPU Spread Spectrum Disabled
    IOH Clock Skew Auto
    PCIE Spread Spectrum Disabled
    C1E Support Disabled
    Hardware Prefetcher Enabled
    Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch Enabled
    Intel Virtualisation Tech Disabled
    CPU TM Function Disabled
    Execute Disabled Bit Enabled
    Intel HT Technology Disabled
    Active Processor Cores All
    A20M Disabled

As mentioned before, the computer is stable at 1603MHz, but with the HyperX memory Im sure it would be worth chasing 2000+MHz. Can anyone help?

    Thanks

what's next RAM multi for 200Bclk?

I think it's more than 2000Mhz...anyway you need way way more voltage for QPI/DRAM to get the RAM to run over 1600Mhz. You're looking at over 1.5x volt, oh btw this is just a starting point, you might go over 1.6v as well. So go do some tweaking

+1. 2000Mhz will probably create instability and the chips native frequency is 1066MHz. 1600+ is very nice though.

Thank you for you quick replies. What you say makes sense theres not much to be gained.

I think I'll leave it alone and be content with a stable Machine.I'm happy with 4.2GHz anyway

But.......................I did here someone say "Greed is good".

Hmmmmmmm, might push that voltage up a little some time soon. Just to see what happens.

If i do I'll post the result.

    Later Dude's and thanks again.

PS. Best OC Forum on the net.

Ooopsie, we did not notice, you are running 21x for your multi. Try 19 and raise bclock and see if your stable. That will raise memory frequency or try 23x and use a different divider.
