Default A question about supported ram..

My current mother board supports up to DDR2 5400. The mother board is temperary, If I bought say... DDR2 6400-8500 would it simply run at 667mhz or would it not run at all?

Edit: the board currently is a 4core-vsta if that matters.

Thanks for the info guys, them I won't bother to buy the 667mhz I'll just buy the 800 or higher cause I don't plan on keeping the board very long.
