    Default Memory voltage question

I recently updated the bios on my motherboard. The bios updates says its for improved memory compatibility. Since the update, the auto setting in bios is setting my my memory voltage at 1.8 volts. My memory is rated for 1.65 volts at 1600MHz so I manually reset the voltage to 1.65V. Was that the right thing to do, or should I have left it on auto? Thanks.
