    Default RAM Temps

Does anyone know what safe temps for RAM modules is? My G.Skill 1600 RAM registers 100 degrees right around the heat sink tomorrow I will tape it to the stick and see if there is a difference in surface temps of the heat sink. when playing BF3 is when I see those high temps. If I run prime with %85 utilization I barley see a rise in temps. I am guessing it is just ambient heat right round the heat sink the temp probe is picking up?

I don't think RAM can get that hot unless you are really over volting them... seems like the sensors are off.
I used a IR laser thermometer and mine are normally at about 35-40c even under benchmarking..

    Default Re: RAM Temps

Like Kenny said 35-40 is normal operating temps for RAM at default voltage.

    what's your case temperature?

Ram's delta temp should be around 10-15°C to the ambient temp.

Well now I feel like a moron...somehow the temp display on that one channel got changed to F. Idel temps with an IR temp probe is 60c, under a load playing BF3 72c. Not close to the temps you guys are reporting. So maybe better quality Ram? Right now I am using G.Skill ripjaws. Ambient temps in my case at idle are 31c. Facepalm.

How is your air flow in the case? The Ripjaws is pretty good quality ram.

well i dont think its an air flow issue. Is you voltage overclocked on Ram?

60°c idle is too high for RAM. What's your QPI voltage?

The 60c is measured with a craftsman ir temp gage aimed at the ram heat sink.
