    Default DDR2 800mhz overclock

hello i have 6Gb DDR2 800MHZ of ram installed. I want to now about the setting in bios because in the bios for the ram its on auto (By default) so when i run cpu-z then goto Memory my Dram Frequency is running at 266.6MHZ and the FSBram 3.4.

So i go back to the bios and i change the Dram from auto and put it up to 400MHZ (2x400MHZ is 800MHZ am i right?)

So i go back to cpu-z and my Dram Frequency Is running at 400MHZ
    and my FSBram 1.2

i want to no whats better 1.2 or 3.4 ?

and am not overclocking it am i coz my ram says 800MHz on them so can u let me Know anyone please thanks

Populating all four DIMMs will put more strain on the NB so make sure that it is stable. It may require a slight voltage increase. Running your RAM at its proper speed of 800MHz (400x2) is the better option as on a 3:4 ratio, it is only running at 533 (266x2, roughly).

If it has been stable for six months, then I see absolutely no reason to change it.

I must admit, I am surprised that you notice a big difference. The only real noticeable differences come in the benchmarks. I went from 1333MHz to 1866MHz RAM and there honestly wasn't very much of a difference in it, if any at all.

If your ram is rated for 800mhz, then your not overclocking them so its good..
most motherboards normal default the ram to the lower speeds until you go in and adjust it in the bios.

my 1600 and 1866 DDR always defaults at 1333 when I install into a new build, then I go into the bios and enable XMP profiles and make the adjustments to meet the rams specified speed and its good to go... Overclocking them would be bring them pass what they are recommended for.. depending on ram, some can overclock like crazy, while others like to be stuck with its factory settings.

Also if your ram is stable, do change it.. sometimes the small increases are really that noticeable in apps... so if 800mhz is stable for you, stick to it..
