    Default Detects 2GB instead of 6GB- Asus P6T

    Hello everyone, before I start I just want to let you guys know that I am a complete noob when it comes to overclocking or changing settings in the bios. I have a strange problem, I have a Asus P6T motherboard and 6 GB OCZ Triple channel RAM. Windows and Bios detects 2GB of RAM and Cpu-Z detects 6GB. I contacted both OCZ and Asus, OCZ said that I might have a faulty slot and Asus said that my RAM's frequency is too high for the P6T I need to lower the settings in my bios. They don't help customers with anything that has to do with changing bios settings so that is why I am here. Right now I am not worried about overclocking, I just want my mobo to detect 6GB Triple channel (btw mobo detects 6GB in dual channel). My Bios settings are all in AUTO- not overclocked. So can anyone please tell me what settings should I change in Bios so that the Bios detects 6gb. I hope you guys will be patient with me because once again I am a noob!
    P.S- for some reason my system specs are not showing up under my username, sorry for that.

    Did you install 3 stick in the correct color coded slots?
    Put them in orange slots don't mix match them unless you fill them all full 12Gb.
    Also try to update to the latest bios if you can.

    About the sys specs; go to UserCP, fill out the form and save it then it will show up.

    Yea first I tried filling up Orange slots-A1 and B1 (4gb) it doesn't post then tried Orange slots-B1 and C1 (4gb) and it works. When I tried A1 B1 C1 (6G it posts and takes me to Windows but detects only 2GB. I just did what the Manual suggested (Pg 35). I think my RAM settings in the Bios are causing the probs but I'm not sure to be honest.

    My P6T SE does the same thing with 6gb of Corsair XMS3. A couple power cycles clears it.

    It only happens sometimes after cold boots, and not always. I make a point to notice if it detected all the RAM in the POST before letting it into windows. Not sure why it happens thought still haven't found a cause.

    mobo or windows won't see full mem installed usually cause by the following;
    1. too much tension at the cooler retention
    2. incompatible RAM
    3. wrong QPI/DRAM voltage
    4. excess overclocking memory

    You may also want to check for a bios update which some times helps make some ram compatible with the board...

    We went through this in another thread. I read bent pins can also be the culprit. Too much tension may be the cause. Deton guided me through this. I pulled my waterblock, reset the chip, re apllied tim and did not snug the waterblock as much and bingo..... Problem solved.

    His problem only occur when he overclocked, all MEM availables when he put back to stock settings.
