    Default Nixeus NX-VUE27 27" 2560x1440

The price model for 27” IPS displays has been turned on its head recently by imported models from Korea that you can buy on eBay. Selling for as little as $350, these are stripped down models that lack inputs beyond DVI, have no OSD, have very minimal stands, and often have very little in the way of support. They also use A- grade panels where tolerances for stuck pixels and uniformity errors might not be as high as they are with A or A+ panels that are used in most displays.

However, these panels offer a large amount of value for people that want a high-resolution display and can’t afford the $650 and up that the cheapest US model, the HP ZR2740w, typically costs online. Nixeus has come out to change that with their $500, 27” NX-VUE27 monitor. (Note: When it first went on sale, the price was $430, so we may see pricing drop over the coming months.) Using a Grade-A panel with an OSD and a wider variety of inputs that the Korean imports, the Nixeus is priced to compete with both the Korean imports as well as existing US models.

It does look good, but those Korean imports aren't half bad.
One of my neighbors has one and it's perfect.

I use to think the same thing until I got a 27". Now I would never go back to a smaller monitor. Just wish I could afford 3 27" high res monitors for some serious eyefinity game play.

    User review;

    The monitor box:

NOTE: The box is HEAVY - heavy enough that the box's plastic handles broke while I was carrying the monitor to my car. Good thing I'm short so the drop was minimal. So be sure to carry it by holding the sides or carrying from the bottom.
Opening the box and taking out the contents, I found out the stand and stand base made up the bulk of the box's weight.

The directions for installing the stand was not informative enough, but at least the screws are labeled so you know where they go:

I'm using a display port 1.2 cable to connect the monitor to my Gigabyte Windforce GTX 670...
Running some tests - I did not find any dead or defective pixels and there was no back light bleeding... at least I couldn't find any:.

Adjusting the height was fairly easy, but tilting it was kind of hard (at least it feels solid). I found out to swivel left or right that you had to hold on to the monitor shaft and twist left or right.

Rotating it clockwise into portrait mode was fairly easy:

Playing Battlefield 3 in 2560x1440p I didn't notice any input lag and it did not affect my reaction time or gaming scores (K/D Ratio) - anyone that has played with me knows that I don't camp and I don't nade/noob tube spam! I always play FPS games with V-Sync OFF. As you can see, I play BF3 ALOT! (Feel free to add me on Battlelog):

I ran some benchmarks to see how my PC rig performed with the Nixeus Vue 27's 2560x1440p Resolution:
Here are my Resolution Settings on a full server for a 64 Player Operation Firestorm

I ran FRAPS 8 times while I was flying the jet - dog fighting and shooting at ground units (Yes I'm a decent jet pilot). I fly close to the ground and try to keep the same runs. These frames per second was replicated and consistent during my benchmark runs.

At 2560x1440p, Battlefield 3 really puts the GTX 670 to work as you can see the numbers on MSI Afterburner... BF3 chews up about 1.8GB worth of GPU Memory! If you are planning to purchase a 2560x1440 IPS monitor, you are definitely going to need a Graphics Card with at least 2GB of Memory!

I had a 27 inch. It was too big for me. (thats what she said) I do software work and was urged into a 27. Might be the distance I keep to the screen though. I do better with more smaller ones.

    Default Re: Nixeus NX-VUE27 27" 2560x1440

Nice user review submission. I love the pictures. I wonder is this better than the budget friendly catleap monitor...

I agree with matttymatt... Sometimes having a big screen could be a pain in the neck. I am also comfortable on a standard screen. Although I have a 24" LCd. I would love to have a bigger one even though whilst I'm designing on photoshop I really gotta strain my eyes to check some zoomed in details. And according to the size of the screen i gotta look at a slight angle because my seat is slightly lower than the desk and the desk is quite broad with the LCD right behind it ... I guess my desk was built to accommodate a CRT ... Looks like I'll have to make a couple of adjustments.

I would like to add. I hate it when people mount an LCD of a pc to the wall and have this big ugly desk. It just seems rather odd. And it isn't really comfortable to use. Though wall mounts for hdtvs are my favorite. :-)
