Default 46in LCD connect to PC

    I have 2 questions...

What happens to the sound when I connect to a HDTV via HDMI from my PC{4850}, ie, can I turn the sound all the way down on the TV and use my PC speakers, or will that turn them down as well?

2nd...I have a new Laptop with HDMI output, but the laptops screen resolution is 1366x768, so is it possible to connect the laptop to the HDTV via HDMI and run at 1080, or will I have to output at 768?

    It's a 5650 or something....it's a week old.
So this means that my laptop screen will stay at 768, but I can output 1920x1080 to the LCD?

well it depends wheter you will duplicate the screen or extend it. If you duplicate it, it will default to primary screen resolution but if you extend it it will run in native resolution

The main reason for the HDTV is to watch all the HDTV files I have on my PC/laptop, so I would always want to output at 1080 to the HDTV for that purpose wouldn't I?

I've been collecting HDTV music video's for the last 2.5 yrs, many are 1080i 16mbps from the US, they look sensational on my 26in PC monitor, so I''m hoping the bigger screen will improve upon that.
