Well my buddy is a professional animator/render guru and he uses dual HP 2475's. Gorgeous images. The IPS panels are expensive though. I've not seen any newer Samsung IPS screens of late, seems they're focusing on TN panels. If you can find a newer Samsung IPS panel, I can get it for review though.

And if at all possible, try to get a DisplayPort connector, though with an IPS I wouldn't expect it, at least not in that price range.

It looks like the choice is the HP LP2475w for $575 or the Dell U2410 for $540. Both have Displayport capabilities. Reviews indicate the HP had a reddish tinge. The Dell with the new firmware seems to be good as I can't find any negatives.
    Thanks for the information.

Question SkyGuy: Did your friend have to do or have done any calibration on the HP to get the great picture you mentioned? When did your friend get his Monitor's? I believe both HP and Dell use LG and I would expect the yields to reflect improved quality over time.

He got the panels through a dealer. He has a Dell workstation but HP monitors. Go figure. Unless you do proper, professional (expensive) calibration, you should calibrate to what your ultimate output is. He outputs to display screens, not print media, for example, so he just manually calibrated slightly until it looked like he wanted/needed.
