Default Developer Bringing Windows 8 UI to Windows 7

With that in mind, some independent developers are working to bring that tile-based UI to Windows 7. WinRumors has highlighted the early work of Italian developer Sergio James Bruccoleri, who is working on a public beta of a Windows 8-like interface that will layer on top of Windows 7

Personally I don't see the point of this .. it is just like having large Icons on your desktop.

I can understand why it is good on a phone but not a desktop PC.

KT, Windows 8 will probably be the last nail in the coffin of the Desktop computer... Everything in computing nowdays seems to be headed to the cloud. We will not need powerful desktops and we will not physically own software anymore as it will all be on the cloud...

People are using their cell phones and tablets to do what most desktops have done for years.

I am thinking of buying stock in somekind of eyeglass company due to the heavy use of Cell phones in todays world and this will only increas. Having so many people staring at those small Cell screens I think is gonna increas the need for reading glasses worldwide by unbeleivable numbers... LOL

Amazon is a big player in Cloud Technology. EMC is developing cutting edge "Cloud" Storage. Eiither one of those is a great stock play right now. But its a buy and hold as Cloud tech wont take off until 2013. ( Even though there are small companys now that we never heard of , they will never even get to go public becuase the 800lb gorillas like EMC and others will buy them.) Had you bought MS in the Early 80s you would be retired now, with plenty.

Agreed Cloud maybe the way forward .. but this addon is just BIG ICONS's for shortcuts ..
This is just a GUI to sit on top of Windows 7 OS .. nothing to do with Cloud Technology ...
I can't see why everyone is getting so excited about this .. :lala:
Rocketdock does the same thing but with a different interface ... in my opinion Rocketdock looks better..

I agree it is just a visual affect and does not enhance performance of the operating system...

Looks like a bad copy of OS X features if you ask me. Which is par for the course for Windows. And Rocket Dock is a simple interface that doesn't require an entire new OS.

I like streamlined things. I like simple. I like a minimalist approach. This.......seems more "loud" for the sake of being shiny. Like most things these days.

    SIGH.
