500 million will run Windows 8 in 2013

Steve Ballmer is predicting that 500 million people will be using Windows 8 by the end of 2013. If you ask me, I think it will take a LOT to get people to upgrade from Windows 7. What do you think?

Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer predicts more than 500 million people will be using Windows 8 by the end of next year, reports AFP. Ballmer, who was speaking at a forum in Seoul, South Korea, also expects Windows 7 to hit the 350 million device milestone later this year.

So am I, from what I have seen, Win 8 is more for Tablets and touch screens

I have 5 licences for Windows 7 64 bit, 3 Ultimate and 2 Professional. I am not upgrading to Windows 8 and buying all new touch screen monitors ( I just spent 3,000) on monitors and they are not touch screen) so if anyone think I am upgrading before Windows 12 , think again LOL.

Same here. I played with the development and beta versions. Didn't care for the Metro GUI, the removal of the start button and it didn't play well with BOINC.

One problem will be the GPU card support for Windows 8. The NVIDIA cards will be supported back to year 2004 cards but ATI/AMD will only go back to the HD 5000 and above I think those were 2010 releases. I hope this changes but this is what I've read.
