    Win8 designs based on Win7. It's a little faster than Win7 ( I heard).
IMO, if you don't have touch screen or tablet or heavily on social media then it's kinda waste.

I love how they flaunt boot times like they even matter. I reboot my PC every three or four weeks. Who cares about five extra seconds? lol

I turn it off at night, so I do... that said, with an SSD, I doubt it matters. I bought it. 70 bucks for the full version... Could not resist. Havent installed it, but I have been using it at work as I do retail and sell these things and honestly, it is like a fresh start. Some things I can do faster (like most common settings), other things take years... like getting to the control panel. My PC and then typing control panel into the address bar is faster.

Lol, I bought it. OEM for 64 bit home at $70 which was a good deal for any windows version. I actually bought it because I just liked it. As far as how it runs compared to windows 7, it's nothing fantastic, I just for some reason really liked the new interface. I felt like it was modern and fresh, like I really bought a new operating system.

I know windows likes to force people to upgrade but I have a feeling that if enough people don't like the change, they'll just come out with another version so I don't think staying with 7 for now will hurt anyone. Personally, if you don't mind new, I would go 8 if you're building a new system and were going to be buying a new OS anyways. But I wouldn't recommend going through changes just for the sake of going through them. I knew I was working on a new system for a while so I tried it out and decided I'd go for it.

I would be very wary of the upgrade versions. You know how normal windows upgrade versions, you can upgrade, but you can also still go the custom install route and treat it a little like oem software. I couldn't verify that I could actually do a custom install with the upgrade version. I have an old copy of vista (worthless) and figured well I'll just get the upgrade but if it meant installing vista first, then upgrading, I was not happy with that and some things I read couldn't verify I could do a custom fresh install. If anyone knows for sure how the upgrade versions work I'd be curious to know.

Oh and another way to get to control panel items if I remember right was right clicking on bottom of the start page (with tiles) on a blank spot, an option comes up that says something like "all applications," and then you see EVERYTHING including control panel, system settings, etc. Of course when you click on something, it will always take you to the desktop to run anything which was kind of strange.

One day I left my Vista copy setting in the front seat of my car. Someone grabbed me and said "Hey, you're car is being robbed!" I rushed outside, saw the broken window... and 3 more vista versions sitting in the front seat!

I have friends that are using Windows 8 and it sucks for gaming. The Metro Interface runs so much junk that it is running hotter and because of all the processes it slows down gaming to a crawl. I would give Windows 8 a zero rating for being Gamer Friendly
