At one time I always said Opera was the best and every other browser tried to be as good
and I also felt they all copied a lot of Opera's features. Ive been running Chrome for some time now
But I will give this a go and see if I like it better.

Personally I still believe this to be true. There engine has fallen behind in some web aspects (though admittedly I don't use those much at all), but their interface and customisability there of is still the best, by miles. Opera replaces a mail client and feed reader for myself. I use for everything. I have chrome, but find it bugs out a lot with my amount of tabs, while opera doesn't have that issue... though the new version might.
Firefox is just slow in comparison.

What I am really hoping is that more websites will react positively to opera now. Previously many pages would redirect you to an incompatible page, even though it works 100%.

The new Opera has some great streamlines and customizations but unfortunately they also kill much of what made it great in the first place. So the improvements offset the losses; it's a shame.

There is no traditional bookmark list anymore, they want to incorporate folders directly into the Start Page, visually. Great idea! Except they didn't keep the option for the older style for text display; it's all graphic now. I have TONS of bookmarks, and I absolutely unequivocally REFUSE to visually scan through hundreds of thumbnail images to try to find the bookmark I want. Your brain simply cannot process that amount of information as easily, nor as fast, as a simple text list of bookmarks. So in their effort to make it look cool, they've made it unusable. Style over substance, as it were. And wrongly so.

There are other examples like opening a new tab to background rather than stacking them, but those are minor annoyances. They utterly and completely failed on the bookmarks. There is no way to overstate how much of a fundamental disaster they created by this new approach. Unforgivable.

I uninstalled Opera 15, am sticking with the previous version for now. I may yet go back to Firefox if they get their $h!t together and make it less of a pig, and add some much-needed customizations and visual updates. IE.....Never. Chrome....although it's a technical winner, I philosophically choose not to use it based on the crap they try to force feed you through using it.

Speaking of Chrome... the consensus amongst norwegians is that this is just an Opera-Skinned version of Chrome. Nobody is impressed, and several people are actually recommending Opera 12 rather than a move to 15.

    ****.

I was going to try it this weekend. I think I still will. Sounds like I may have lost my favourite browser. Just switched the update too, just in case.

Let me know what you think of it. If you find a way to keep the non-thumbnail version of bookmarks please share the info! As it stands, I can't stand it. It's a shame really, because they fixed a bunch of annoyances in v15.....website compatibility is a big one, and several other little things.

Some companies can't just leave well enough alone. Fix the bad things instead of always trying to makeover your products and creating new problems. Does everyone automatically think "newer" means "better"???? UGH.
