Default No Internet connection using Windows 10

I have been using the Windows 10 preview for about 2 months now and everything is running fine except for the network. First I installed the preview on my laptop as a dual boot, with Windows 7 Home on the C: drive and Windows 10 Preview on the D: drive. If I am using Windows 7 my Wi-Fi works just fine but if I am using Windows 10 Preview, the Wi-Fi light will not come on and there is no internet connection. I can plug the laptop directly into the router and I have an internet connection. I can use a Wi-Fi dongle on the laptop and the internet connection in fine. I tried to find new drivers for the laptop network card but as far as I could tell, there were none available.
Second, I installed the Windows 10 Preview on my desktop as a dual boot. I have an onboard Ethernet card but I also have a Killer Xeno Pro High Speed Network Card. If I plug the network cable into the onboard card I have internet access but if I plug it into the Killer Xeno Network card I have no internet access. I can also use the Wi-Fi dongle with the desktop. I paid extra when I had this computer built to have the Killer Xeno network card and I want to use it. As with the laptop, when I boot into Windows 7, the Killer Xeno card works fine.
I am the resident geek for my friends and family and I have about 8 to 10 people that I have told to hold off on upgrading to Windows 10 because of these network problems. If they upgrade and have the same problems I have I can't just tell them that they're going to have to go buy a Wi-Fi dongle in order to use their computer.
I would really appreciate any help that you could give me with this. I have been using Windows operating systems since 3.1 and I have never had a problem with getting the network cards to work.

When an OS is brand spanking new, sometimes you end up getting the spanking,.....LOL!

Driver support should be developed to a high degree, but I'm sure that not all drivers are ready for prime time. MS leaves it up to the maker of your devices to get it done.

Win-10 has a feature that requires that all drivers be digitally signed before they will install on the new OS. If the driver is not properly signed for Win-10, it will not install.
It can be turned off, but I can't remember how to do it since all of my ASUS motherboard's components worked flawlessly.

Look to the manufacturer of the Network card for new drivers.
If that doesn't pan out,......look closely at the network adaptor and get the number from the chip itself.
Do a Google search with those numbers and look for a generic driver that will work for you.

The latest driver that VisionTek has for that card is the 64-bit driver for Win-8.1

Hey vinman. I thought I might see you out here. Thanks again for all the help on the case fan. I think I may have found a new driver for the Xeno Pro but still no joy on the laptop network card.

    Thanks realneil,
I'm not sure if it work yet but somebody did post a supposedly win10 driver for the Xeno Pro. I will try installing it later. I will try doing another search for my laptop network card. Right now I will tell everybody I know that they should hold off on downloading Windows 10 until everybody gets their act together. It remains to be seen if HP will write new drivers for their printers or if they think they will force us to buy yet another new printer.

Using windows 7, figure out exactly what laptop wireless card is in the laptop and search for a win-10 driver for it online.

HP is known for not supporting older printers. (some of them anyways)

I have an HP Laserjet 1012 that is a great little printer. It does 600DPI and it's awesomely quick.
It worked fine on XP and Vista, but they said that it "couldn't possibly" work properly on Win-7.
They refused to support it from then on out. I had three of them at the time.

Over time, someone figured out that you can install the driver for the HP Laserjet 3055 PCL5 onto your Win-7 PC, and the LaserJet 1012 magically works like a champ!

    Go figure,...........

Thanks for the info realneil. The 3 in 1 HP printer is only 2 years old so I'm hoping they will update the drivers. Only time will tell and I'm not ready to buy another printer just because they're too lazy to write new drivers for it. Right now I'm still using the Preview version and I'm part of the Insider group so I think they're going to let us continue for quite a while. I would eventually like to go completely to Win10 but right now I have a dual boot and can always switch over to Win7 if I need to print something. I'll keep looking for drivers.

Win-10 preview is good until Oct 1st. After that, we have to upgrade or stop using it.

I think that HP's logic goes to selling new printers if they can get away with not supporting yours.
But someone, somewhere will solve it if HP doesn't.

This article makes it sound like we can continue with the Windows 10 Preview version.

Stay with us as a Windows Insider

As we’ve announced before, the Windows Insider Program will continue even after we release Windows 10 on July 29th. Windows Insiders will continue to receive future flights as we begin to work on the next release immediately after Windows 10 ships. You’ll get to see the latest Windows fixes, features, and updates and give us feedback. So stay with us! Of course, we’ll provide you an option to leave the program and stay on the final build if you choose: but we hope that we’ll continue to provide you great reasons to remain a Windows Insider.

Could be. Suits me as long as I can keep a stable system as a backup and test for free. You can never tell what Microsoft is going to come up with. If you can believe them,
Windows 10 is the last numbered version but if you believe that, I've got some ocean front property in Arizona that I'll sell you cheap.<G>

I also wonder if the MS Keylogger will still be used if we continue to be an 'insider'?

Okay, you've got me there. I guess I missed the keylogging. What's the deal?

Keylogging is part of the user agreement that we accepted to try Win-10 out. That's why I built a fresh system to install it on and still kept my other Win-7 boxes running as my daily drivers.

Well like so many people I didn't read the user agreement but I guess it wouldn't have mattered since I wanted to try out Windows 10 before I advised people to download it. I do have it loaded on a 2nd hard drive but I don't know if that makes any difference or not. Thanks for the heads up.
