Default Magic: The Gathering - Tactics

    Anyone else here playing?

I was always a big fan of the original card game, and now Sony Online Entertainment has released a "tactical" version of the game that is also "free to play".

However, even though it is "free to play", without some monetary investment (avg right now is about $50 or so) it will take quite a long time to develop your deck enough to be competitive. The reviews that are currently out don't do the game justice, as most of the reviewers seem to want to fully functional MTG game that is just like the original. If you think of it more as a tactical RPG, that is loosely based on MTG, then the game has a much better feel.

As is typical with most newly released games like this that contain an Auction House, there is a lot of inflation at the moment. There are people that are trying to control the market on a few key cards that most people use, and it is making rather hard to build a good deck only by using the AH. But, today it seems that prices are coming down on a lot of cards, so hopefully within the next week things will be more affordable for newer players.

All in all, so far I'm loving the game play, even if it does sometimes take about 30 minutes for a single match. If you have a like the original card game, and have a little cash to blow or don't mind taking forever to be able to build a decent deck, then I highly suggest MTG - Tactics.

I wish they would just invest in a better client for Magic Online instead of make a watered down version of the game. I don't have time to play paper Magic lately, and the terribleness of the the online version really makes it unappealing.
