Hmm.. I think I have a way to fix your problem. Why don't you send me your HD 5970 and I send you my HD 4890. I bet that would work!

Interesting that you were still able to purchase Crysis 2 through steam after it being deleted from Steam for a while now.

However, is the game updated to patch 1.9? And do you have the DX11 patch and/or the High Res Pack installed?

Try downloading Soluto, it helps heal crashes and can also help you speed up boot times. First you need to run the game so it crashes a couple of times, then Soluto will fix the crash for you.

The program takes up to 30 days to tell you what you can safely remove from your boot to speed things up but it also gives you a list of programs not needed in what ever browsers you use.

I had the same problem with Crysis 2 and Steam and after the 3rd or 4th crash Soluto had fixed the problem. It's a free program an worth giving a try, here's the link: http://www.soluto.com/download

Soluto is anti frustration software and it's in Beta right now, it also helps with browser crashes. Get back to me in 3-4 days and let me know if it helped fix your crash problem.
