Pre-order a single-player RPG, to get an item for a multiplayer shooter? WTF? What a pointless promotion.

People often buy games just for the stuff in TF2. Unlike contrary belief, people are suckers for vanity items in TF2. I have a feeling this is going to be quite popular for Skyrim.
And what's wrong with cross genre promoting? I like FPS'es as much as I love my RPG's!
Well, I guess the logic is there. It's like those Missouri promotions, "Buy a new car, get a free AK-47." Oddly enough, it works.
