    More proof that Origin sucks. I used to buy EA games before they cooked up Origin, but no longer.

    Neil is absolutely right about their messed up corporate philosophy regard our data.

    Tech was wrong - game can be installed from DVDs

    I did an origin uninstall then a system restore & got all working - game now plays !!!!

    PART 1

    If you are currently unable to install from the Mass Effect 3 dvds please do the following:

    1. Insert Disc 1 of ME3, but DO NOT launch the installer/AutoRun.exe
    2. Click the Start menu, then Computer
    3. Right click on your CD/DVD drive and click “Open”
    4. Go to the Autorun folder
    5. Open installerdata.xml by either:
    a. Double-clicking – this should open up the file in your web browser (you can safely ignore security warnings), or
    b. Right clicking installerdata.xml, then click Open With Notepad
    6. Verify the following between “<contentIDs>” tags at the top of the file:

    <contentIDs>
    <contentID>71400</contentID>
    <contentID>71404</contentID>
    </contentIDs>

    If you have the above #'s it won't install

    PART 2

    If you don't have those #'s then do this

    How to Install Mass Effect 3 from DVD (without download)
    1.) Install Origin
    2.) Let Origin Update to the current Version
    3.) Restart Origin
    4.) Enter your Mass Effect 3 Code in Origin
    5.) Don’t start the Download, but close Origin with a right click on the Origin Icon in the Systray -> Exit
    6.) Restart setup.exe from Disc 1, it will start Origin and the Installation from the DVDs
